New Fernando Botero exhibition unveiled in Portugal

by Zach Edling November 14, 2012

Colombia News/Botero

Colombian artist Fernando Botero opened a new exhibition in Portgual Wednesday entitled “Way of the Cross: The Passion of the Christ.”

The Antioquian painter/sculptor will have 27 large oil paintings and 34 drawings displayed at the Ajuda National Palace.

“President Juan Manuel Santos inaugurates the exhibition, with Foreign Minister Maria Angela Holguin and with the presence of Fernando Botero,” explained Luis Armando Soto, Colombia’s Cultural Affairs Director.

Visitors to the Ajuda National Palace can enjoy the paintings, which were made by the Colombian master in 2010, until January 27 next year.

Soto called the new Botero works “an example of the passion and death of Jesus [told] from the Christian tradition.”
