Colombian media group RCN released recordings of navy officers, arrested in October for allegedly being members of narco-trafficking group “Los Rastrojos,” apparently discussing deals with the drug gang.
In the conversations, seven men talk about attacks against other members of the navy and discuss threatening people on behalf of the criminal group. The men have been charged with conspiracy, bribery and disclosure of secrets.
The Prosecutor General’s Office said in October it had dismantled a criminal network, in which three officers, two non-commissioned officers, and a marine were receiving bribes for allowing the criminal activities of the drug gang in the municipalities of Tumaco and Mosquera in the Nariño department.
Los Rastrojos, which mainly operates in the Pacific region of Colombia, is one of the country’s most powerful neo-paramilitary drug organizations.
