The number of people traveling internationally increased in 2010 by 10 percent, says Colombia’s Administrative Department of Security (DAS), El Universal reported Wednesday.
In 2010, 7.5 million people traveled to and from Colombia. According to the report, 3.7 million foreigners entered the country and 3.8 million nationals travelled outside the country last year.
Bogota’s El Dorado airport, which is currently under an improvement project, remained the busiest entry and exit point with 63 percent of international travelers moving through the airport. In 2010 4.7 million people traveled internationally via El Dorado, of which 1.9 million were foreigners.
DAS denied 87 children from leaving the country because they lacked proper documentation. In most cases the children did not have authenticated documents or did not have parental consent. There were three cases of people who tried to use fake fingerprints on their documents.
