‘AS Monaco sign Colombia’s James Rodriguez’

by Johnny Crisp May 21, 2013

Big spending French side AS Monaco have agreed a $90M double deal to sign rising Colombian star James Rodriguez and Portuguese teammate Joao Moutinho, European media reported Tuesday.

The Colombian striker has helped his side, FC Porto, to three consecutive domestic titles and has consistently been linked to a big money move away from the Portuguese giants, with England’s Premier League being the most likely destination.

However, breaking reports from several sources around the globe suggest that the newly promoted French side, backed by billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, have clowned the competition out of the water, clinching a deal worth $90 million for both Rodriguez and highly rated playmaker and long term Tottenham target Moutinho.

If the reports are confirmed, it is likely to kickstart a flurry of transfers within the European market, with clubs including Manchester United, City, Paris Saint Germain, Chelsea and Real Madrid all reportedly in the market for marquee signings.
