Miss Colombia fails to reach Miss Universe semi-finals

by Narayan Buckley December 20, 2012

Colombia News Miss Colombia

Miss Colombia Daniella Alvarez has failed to make it into the semi-finals round of Miss Universe 2012, currently being held in Las Vegas, USA.

Alvarez had been preparing in hotel planet Hollywood in Las Vegas for two weeks, but regretably it was not enough.  Despite apparent internet popularity, the Barranquilla city native could not break into the group of 16 semi-finalists, local media reported.

Among the Latin American representatives who did make the semi-finals were Miss Peru, Brazil, Mexico, and Venezuela.

Miss USA Olivia Culpo eventually won the title, which marks the eighth Miss Universe title the United States have won, and the first since 1997.  Miss Philipines Janine Tugonon came second, followed by Miss Venezuela Irene Sofia Esser Quintero.

Colombia must now set its sights on competing in next year’s Miss Universe.
