by Tim Hinchliffe October 20, 2011

colombia news - millionarios

The Millonarios soccer team beat Boyaca Chico 1-0 on Wednesday with a goal scored in the 83rd minute by midfielder Rafael Robayo to win the first leg of the Copa Colombia Postobon finals played in Tunja.

About 10,000 people packed the stands of “La Independencia” stadium to watch a pivotal game that left the Millonarios one step closer to their first title in 10 years.

The Millonarios were responsible during most of the game for running the options leaving Boyaca Chico’s goalkeeper Cristian Bonilla on constant alert.

Commenting on his team’s victory, trainer Richard Paez said, “We came to meet with respect, and we got through all the lines.”

The second leg of the finals between the Millonarios and Boyaca Chico will be played in El Campin on Thursday, October 27.
