Medellin’s Antioquia Museum celebrates 130 years on Tuesday, November 29, with free entrance for all of its visitors.

The Museo de Antioquia (Antioquia Museum) was the first museum founded in the department and the second in all of Colombia. It is home for many works of artistic heritage from the local area and features six temporary exhibitions of national and international artists every year.

In 2012, the museum has already planned to host famous Colombian painter and sculptor Fernando Botero’s collection “La Pasion de Cristo” (The Passion of Christ) and a historical photography exhibit on Colombia that features snaps from 1842 through 2010.

Within the giant walls of the museum, located in downtown Medellin’s Berrio Park, visitors can enjoy Botero’s famous classics, art depicting politicians, war heroes, and religious figures of years past, as well as turn of the century photography.
