Open since March 2012, the educational museum is a blend of science, technology, history and anthropology which combine to convince the visitor of the importance of water conservation.

The museum is entirely dedicated to the importance of water which is inseparable from the history of our planet, making it appropriate that the museum begins with an impressive animated display across two enormous screens showing the beginning of time — the big bang.

High-tech design and interactive learning facilities allow the visitor to contemplate, absorb and process the wealth of information about this natural resource which covers over 70% of the planet, but of which less than 2% can be consumed by humans.

Through studying the physical attributes of water, the formation of ecosystems and its relationship with civilizations, the museum ultimately brings one to consider how we use water today and how simple changes in our daily lives can contribute to the conservation of water reserves.

The water museum is located in Medellin’s Pies Descalzos Park.
