Medellin music festival postponed due to low attendance

by Stephen Manker July 18, 2011

Colombia news - callejon

Medellin music festival “La Fiesta del Callejon” was postponed Saturday due to low ticket sales.

The music festival’s director, Gabriel Lopez, told Colombia Reports that the “causes of the postponement are due to the risk that we ran with local businesses, given the low public reception of the event, which provoked a thorough analysis after which we decided to postpone the festival. For this reason we decided to take a large financial risk and instead postpone the show.”

One attempted concert goer told Colombia Reports that she was “shocked” and “disappointed” when she arrived to the Botanical Gardens on Saturday night.

“We showed up to the concert doors with our tickets and they denied our entry,” she explained.

Those who purchased tickets to the music festival can receive refunds through distributor Ticket Express.

Gabriel Lopez said that money from ticket sales is “obviously not theirs,” and that “at no time was the money deposited into [their] accounts.”

Some concert goers complained of the high ticket prices ($18.75). Therefore, the next festival will be held sometime during the month of September free of charge.
