by Courtney Scott July 30, 2012

Colombia news - Heroin

Colombia’s national police on Monday seized 10.6kg of heroin intended to be sent to the United States, according to preliminary police reports.

Authorities found the narcotics, believed to have originated in Uraba in the north of the Antioquia department, in Medellin’s northern bus terminal. General Jose Roberto Leon Riaño, director of the National Police, valued the shipment at $59,200, making it the largest shipment of heroin seized in Medellin this year.

According to a report in El Colombiano, police had prior information about the shipment, which they were able to detect with the help of canine units.
