”Lo Azul del Cielo” (The blue of the sky) will become the first Colombian film to hit cinemas across the country in 2013 when it is released on January 18.
The film centers around Camilo, played by Colombian actor, Aldemar Correa, a young man living with his mother and siblings in Medellin. Short on cash, a friend sets him up with some “light” work, guarding a Spanish hostage in a remote part of Antioquia, who is being held captive by amateur criminals.
Camilo, uncertain of his new life of crime, befriends the hostage only to fall for the man’s 23-year-old daughter.
To the trained eye, parts of Medellin are noticeable, however, the film does not acknowledge a specific location making it seem as if it could have been set in any Latin American metropolis.
The movie was featured at the Rhode Island International Film Festival, the International Film Festival of Chile and the World Film Festival of Montreal.
