A landslide on Sunday damaged an aqueduct in central Colombia, leaving 12,000 people without water.

Heavy rains in the central Tolima department triggered the landslide which badly damaged the aqueduct that provides water to the municipality of Rovira.

Eduardo Rodriguez, Director of Risk Management in Tolima told Colombia’s Radio Nacional that it will take five to eight days to repair. He also assured the affected population that the department will work to meet their needs, and that emergency water tankers and portable treatment facilities have been dispatched to the area.
