Ramirez, a television presenter and journalist in the department of Huila, was arrested on Monday, accused of having ties to the armed guerrilla group. Police had been following her for six months before her arrest, and the police department said it has evidence that she was a confidant of the commander of the FARC’s 17th Front “Angelino Godoy.”
The journalist also wrote in the letter that her 9-year-old son is her “reason for living.”
“I would like to find an explanation for how they can deprive me of life with my son,” Ramirez wrote. “People who know me know that I have fought all of my life. I have worked honestly to give my son a good image and to be the best woman and mother in the world. It is very, very difficult what I am going through.”
Ramirez was brought to a jail in Nevia and is awaiting a hearing with a guarantee judge.
