Isabella Rossellini has been announced as the guest of honor at Cartagena’s upcoming international film festival.

In recent hours the 52nd International Film Festival of Cartagena de Indias — taking place in Colombia’s coastal city from February 23 to 29 — announced that it would host a series of events to pay tribute to the film star.

On Friday 24, a gala event honoring Ms Rossellini will be held in Cine Colombia’s Adolfo Mejia Theater, while the festival plans to screen some of the actress’ most memorable films, including “Blue Velvet”, “Fearless”, and “The Saddest Music in the World”.

The renowned Italian-American actress and model was a Vogue cover girl and the face of Lancome throughout the 80s, shooting to movie star fame after David Lynch’s 1986 hit Blue Velvet.

In recent years she has turned her hand to directing, producing and writing, and will be showcasing her most recent directorial outing, 2011’s “Animals Distract Me”, at the festival.

“My Dad is 100 Years Old”, written and produced by the star in 2010 as a tribute to her father, will also be shown during the festival.

The official 2012 program will be announced on Friday January 20, at a press conference being held at Cartagena’s Cine Colombia.
