According to the victim’s mother, “during a change of classes, my daughter was coming downstairs when another student began to crowd against her. My daughter complained and then was beaten indiscriminately.”
Three teachers tried to intervene but were unable to stop the attack.
Suffering scratches to the face and neck, bites to the hand and the loss of part of an ear lobe, the victim was eventually taken to the emergency clinic in the same district of south-west Medellin.
The headmaster of the school expressed his surprise at the attack, stating, “we have been insistent on teaching the values of solidarity and tolerance [to our students].” He also confirmed the immediate expulsion of the attacker.
The victim’s family has begun meeting with lawyers to determine who was responsible for the aggression and whether compensation can be sought.
The victim is currently awaiting reconstructive surgery on her left ear.
