‘Drug gang’ grenade attack injures 7

A grenade attack by a suspected drug gang left seven injured in a municipality 180 miles north of Medellin, central Colombia, RCN Radio reported Monday.

Two unknown individuals on a motorcycle threw a fragmentation grenade into the El Camello neighborhood in the urban sector of Caucasia, Bajo Cauca in the north of Antioquia. Three men and four women were injured as a result of the Sunday night attack.

The region surrounding Caucasia on the Antioquian side of the border with Cordoba has been experiencing high levels of violence recently due to fighting between neo-paramilitary and drug gangs such as “Los Rastrojos,” “Los Urabeños,” “Los Paisas,” and “Aguilas Negras.”

This is the third grenade attack in the region since the beginning of 2011 reported RCN.
