A transsexual former beauty queen died Tuesday in northern Colombia’s Atlantico department, after her DIY buttock implants led to heart and lung failure, reports Santa Fe Radio.
Twenty-eight-year-old Johana Cantoral De la Hoz, born under the name of Giovanni Blanco Suarez, died from cardiopulmonary arrest in hospital in the municipality of Malambo, in the early hours of Tuesday morning, after injecting herself with silicon buttock implants on Monday.
Though an earlier breast enhancement operation using the same substance had caused no adverse affects, the second attempt proved fatal.
Early media reports have suggested that Cantoral De la Hoz may have proceeded with the surgery in a hasty and unhygienic manner due to a desire to have better buttocks in time for the upcoming Malambo Carnival.
The beauty queen had previously been crowned Atlantic Gay Queen at the carnival on Colombia’s Caribbean coast.
