The Red Cross rescued a French climber in the central Colombian department of Tolima Friday, reported Colombian daily El Tiempo.
Tabernier Mattheus was found in a waterfall in Los Nevados National Park and escaped largely unscathed.
Red Cross Tolima rescuer Gabriel Triana said, “He’s alive by a miracle, all that he has is a slightly wounded knee. He will recover in hospital in Ibague before he begins the return to France.”
Mattheus had entered the park Monday with the intention of crossing the mountains to reach the Ibague. He was three hours from the city when farmers heard his cries and alerted the Red Cross.
