Troops from the Omega Joint Task Force found the illegal camps in the department of Meta. Officials believe they belonged to the 40th Front of the FARC and that the camps had the capacity to hold a total of 300 guerrillas.
The largest camp was found in the village of Provenir and had the capacity to shelter 200 guerrillas. The camp was well equipped with a health center, a dining room, two wells, quartermaster equipment and palm beds.
Two other camps found near the same village had the capacity to shelter 20 and 50 rebels each. At these smaller camps, soldiers found stoves, toilets, uniforms and beds.
The fourth camp was found near the village of Oja de Agua and had the capacity to hold 30 guerillas.
According to El Espectator, military sources commented that the Task Force was succeeding in its mission to eliminate FARC activity in the region.
