Soccer star Yady Fernandez, former member of the Colombian national team and current player for Union Deportiva Las Palmas club in Spain, lost her left leg in a motorbike accident which left her cousin dead.

The accident occurred when the motorcycle she and her cousin were travelling on was hit by a car.

According to local reports, the car was being driven by an Ecuadorean soldier who was under the influence of alcohol.
