‘FARC’ release kidnapped mayor

The kidnapped mayor of a town in the southwestern Cauca department was released after 15 days in captivity.

According to newspaper El Espectador, Milton Fabian Hurtado, the mayor of Almaguer, was released by alleged members of the left-wing guerrilla group FARC.

Hurtado was traveling with two friends on July 25 when he was kidnapped by eight to 10 members of an armed group. The group did not demand a ransom for his release.

According to reports, the armed group released the mayor after being pressured by a military group known as Gaula, which specializes in kidnapping prevention and rescue.
