‘FARC’ burns mining company vehicles in northern Colombia

by Matthew Sterne September 11, 2014

Rebel group FARC has burned four vehicles used to transport employees of a mining company in the north of Colombia, the National Army claimed on Wednesday.

Colonel Juan Carlos Vargas, commander of the 14th Brigade of the Army, confirmed that three buses and a van belonging to the company Mineros SA were incinerated in the municipality of Anori on Wednesday.

According to the military, the 36th front 36 of the FARC stopped the vehicles on the road leading from the village of Liberia.

The rebels allegedly forced the people from the cars and then burned the vehicles.

Troops of the Seventh Division of the National Army were displaced from their Medellin base towards the area where the attack took place to regain control of the road and pursue the rebels who carried out the terrorist action, reported Caracol Radio.
