by Matt Snyder July 21, 2011

Colombia news - arrest

Colombia’s armed forces said Thursday they have arrested the financial manager of the Eastern Bloc of guerrilla group the FARC.

Hugo Moreno, alias “Diomedes” is suspected of managing the finances of one of the FARC’s most important blocs and the coordinator of a number of fronts.

According to a press release, Diomedes was arrested Wednesday in the northeastern city of Bucaramanga after a three-month investigation.

The army claims the arrested guerrilla was a man of confidence of slain FARC commander “Mono Jojoy” and his brother “Grannobles.

Diomedes allegedly joined the FARC at age 10 and has since then committed several attacks against armed forces and infrastructure.
