by Edward Fox March 23, 2011

colombia news - police

An alleged FARC attack on a police station in the department of Nariño left one soldier dead while wounding four others, El Espectador reported Wednesday.

The attack occurred in the rural area of Rosario when the supposed rebels launched explosives at the station.

One civilian was also injured in the attack as a result of shrapnel from the blast.

The police commander for the area has been moved along with a security unit to avoid another attack on the same building.

This is the second attack on a police station within a week after an alleged FARC group fired bazookas at a police unit stationed in the department of Cauca last Wednesday. There were no fatalities.
