‘FARC’ attack kills 2 soldiers

by Edward Fox March 7, 2011

Colombia news - Army attack

A suspected FARC attack leaves two soldiers dead in the central Colombian department of Tolima, Caracol Radio reported Sunday.

Commander of the area’s task force General Guillermo Suarez told media that the two men were from the army’s 26th Mobile Brigade and that, despite civilian housing in the area, the FARC had fired indiscriminately at buildings.

He added that this was a serious violation of international humanitarian law by the FARC.

Tolima has seen heavy fighting in recent days with three other soldiers killed and two more seriously injured in an attack reported Friday.
