Colombian soccer star Radamel Falcao spoke of his desire to be “among the best players in the world” during a speech in Madrid Thursday, reported El Espectador.

Falcao, the world’s second most effective striker in 2011, made the comments at an International Tourism Fair, where he was making his first appearance as Colombia’s world tourism ambassador.

The $57 million Atletico Madrid player went on to say, “I know where I am and where I want to go, right now I know I am not one of the best or the worst, but as time passes by I will get the results I need.”

He also had warm words for Jose Pekerman, Colombia’s new national team coach, saying “I welcome him and wish him well, together we can achieve the dream of qualifying for the World Cup in Brazil.”

Falcao is due to play his first game under Pekerman on February 29, when Colombia face Mexico in a friendly match in the U.S.
