Colombian soccer star Radamel Falcao has been vying with Argentina’s Lionel Messi for point leader in European leagues and for the prestigious European Golden Boot award.
Falcao, who currently has 18 goals and 36 points, trails Messi by 18 points. Messi, the three-time winner of FIFA’s Ballon d’Or, is still far ahead with 54 points. El Tigre’s next chance to catch up is on January 20 when his team, Atletico Madrid, faces Levante.
The European Golden Boot is an award given to the European league player who records the greatest number of points from all matches on the continent.
The Colombian striker joined the Spanish league club, Atletico Madrid in 2011.
