A forensic dentist has been uncovered as a fraud, forcing the review of 500 resumes, reported RCN Radio Tuesday.
Angel Leonardo Hernandez, who had been working in the role since 2008, was uncovered during a routine review of resumes and was suspended by the National Institute of Legal Medicine (INML) for three months, pending investigation.
INML Director Carlos Eduardo Valdes said, “We are a very professional, we have more than 2,000 officials and this is not a disgrace and should not affect the work of Legal Medicine.”
According to Diario de Huila, Hernandez delivered up to 530 legal medicine verdicts while working without proper documentation. It is understood Hernandez claimed to have a degree from Colombia’s National University, which was subsequently revealed to be false.
The revelation forced a review of the resumes of almost a quarter of practicing forensic dentists.
Details of where Hernandez was working were not released.
