Peñalosa leads latest Bogota mayor poll

by | Oct 6, 2011

Green Party candidate Enrique Peñalosa topped a Bogota mayoral poll with 20.9% released on Thursday.

Peñalosa took a tiny lead from leftist candidate Gustavo Petro, who had been ahead in previous polls. The latest poll put Petro behind Peñalosa with 18% of the vote while independent candidate Gina Parody, who is leading a political alliance between herself and Antanas Mockus, received 14% of the vote.

Carlos Fernando Galan of the Radical Change Party received 10.4% of the vote and Liberal Party candidate David Luna received 6.9%.

The results of the poll are dramatically different from those released Tuesday by the National Consultation Center, which put Petro in front with 28% of the vote and Peñalosa coming in second with 19%.

Bogota, as well as the rest of Colombia, will be casting their votes on October 30 to elect new mayors, governors, deputies and council members.
