Drug trafficker’s right-hand man arrested

by Scott Kobewka January 21, 2011

Colombia News - handcuffs

Police arrest a right-hand man of “Valenciano,” one of Colombia’s most wanted drug traffickers.

Jose Benito Villarreal Ramirez, alias “Echeverry,” was arrested Friday in the Magdalena department in northern Colombia. The U.S. has requested his extradition for drug trafficking charges, reports news agency EFE.

Echeverry reportedly was the financial officer for Maximiliano Bonilla Orozco, alias “Valenciano,” a promenant drug trafficker who is wanted by the U.S.

Ramirez allegedly worked with various drug trafficking gangs on the Caribbean coast, including “Los Urbaños” and “Los Paisas.”
