Drug trafficker ’06’ extradited to US

by Sarah Cast September 29, 2011

Juan Carlos Rivera, alias “06,” has been extradited to the United States to face trial for trafficking 98 tons of cocaine from Colombia into the U.S.

Alias “06” will be tried by a court in Tampa, Florida, W Radio announced Thursday.

He was captured in Cali, the capital of the western Colombian department of Valle del Cauca, in September 2009.

At the time of his capture, Colombia’s Police Commander Oscar Naranjo said that alias “06” had become “a first-class operator who was responsible for centralizing drug collections and routes.”

He was believed to be the right-hand man of Luis Enrique and Javier Antonio Calle, also known as the Comba brothers, the leaders of the drug gang Los Rastrojos, which controls much of the drug trade in the Colombian Pacific.
