Colombia news - documentary showcase

The American Documentary Showcase brings at least 15 U.S. documentary films to Medellin in a festival beginning November 8.

The Colombo Americano Centre is hosting the showcase as part of their annual documentary festival. The American Documentary Showcase “is designed to promote American documentaries and their filmmakers at international overseas venues.”

On Wednesday attendees will have an opportunity to meet American film makers  Aaron Wolfe and Lawrence R Hott. The two film makers will be at the centre at 6:30 PM.  The discussion will be in English with Spanish translation.

Wolfe received a masters degree in film from the University of Iowa but has worked in Lima, Los Angeles and Mexico city.

Hott has been working in the film industry since 1978 when he left a job at a law firm to pursue a career in film making. He has received many awards for his work including an Emmy award and five American film festival blue ribbons.

The festival runs from November 8 – 15 and admission is free.  The Colombo Americano Centre is located at carrera 45 No.53-24.

Biographies of Wolfe and Hott can be found here and a list of the films to be featured in the American Documentary Showcase can be found here.
