The Colombian Red Cross has provided training for more than 50 displaced people, who have since opened four beauty salons in Bogota, El Espectador reported Monday.
The Red Cross, with the support of the Institute of Social Economy (IPES), offered 55 people 538 hours of theoretical and practical training from Marcel-France, an internationally recognized beauty salon.
IPES director Armando Aljure Ulloa explained that “with the launch of this business and the creation of a social economy company, these people will engage in a process of social innovation and sustainable business.”
“The Red Cross through support, guidance and monitoring, played a crucial role in fulfilling the mission,” Aljure added.
The new beauty salons, which are called “Glamour,” can be found in the Bogota’s neighborhoods Usaquen, Teusaquillo and Chapinero.
