Former Colombian Senator Piedad Cordoba in an exclusive interview with RCN Radio on Sunday declared that she will continue fighting for the freedom of all hostages despite her dismissal from public office.
Cordoba has been barred from holding public office for 18 years because of alleged FARC ties.
“If the hostages are not released, no one will believe in them,” Cordoba said.
The former senator also added that being barred from her office is not an excuse to suspend her humanitarian work. “It has not ended and will not end, despite the problems that I face,” she explained.
Cordoba revealed that in the coming days she will be travelling to Spain to meet with Federico Mayor Zaragoza, the director of the Culture of Peace Foundation, to discuss topics related to Colombia’s peace process.
