A top official from the Bogota comptroller’s office resigned his post Tuesday following accusations of corruption against his boss, Miguel Angel Moralesrussi, RCN Radio reports.
Carlos Enrique Silgado, the deputy director of fiscal responsibility, is considered one of the men closest to Comptroller, Moralesrussi.
Inspector General Alejandro Ordoñez is presently conducting hearings into corruption allegations against several key Bogota officials over the seemingly fraudulent awarding of public works contracts to construction company the Nule Group.
Silgado is apparently the owner of the L’Etoile hotel in Bogota, where Comptroller Moralesrussi met with Nule Group businessman Guido Nule.
The news of Silgado’s resignation comes after Ordoñez had called him to provide his account of events at the disciplinary hearings, which he is expected to do Tuesday.
The former official has stated on several occasions that he has nothing to do with the suspected corruption.
