Colombian film “Los Colores de la Montaña” (Colors of the Mountain) has been selected to represent Colombian cinema at the 2012 Academy Award ceremony.
The Board of Directors of the Colombian Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences selected the film at a special meeting in Colombia on September 15 for the 2012 Academy Award for the Arts and Cinematographic Sciences in the United States.
The selection has been made out of all Colombian commercial films released between October 1, 2010 and September 30, 2011. The criteria used by the Board of the Academy for choosing Colors of the Mountain is based on its aesthetic qualities, narrative, and the ability of the feature film to be shown internationally.
The Colors of the Mountain has already been released in Poland (March), Switzerland (March), USA (April), France (April), Spain (June), Puerto Rico (July), the Dominican Republic (August), and Panama (September).
The film opened the 51st International Film Festival of Cartagena in February and Hernan Ocampo, the star of the movie won the Best Actor in South American Film prize at the XIII South American Film Encounters held in France in April.
