Colombia’s oil production increased 9% between July 2012 and July 2013, reported the ministry of mines and energy on Tuesday.
This represents an average of 1,020,000 barrels per day. Oil production averaged 935,000 barrels a day in the same month last year. Gas production also rose 14.8% throughout the same period.
In addition to this, July’s oil production increased 4.72% when compared with June, where production averaged at 974,000 barrels per day.
Colombia’s gas production increased 1.79% throughout this period, reaching 1,193 million cubic feet per day.
According to the Mining and Energy Ministry, these figures highlight an increase in the production of contracts of the National Hydrocarbons Agency (ANH).
In reality, the compared months might be distorted by a heavy drop in guerrilla attacks on the fossil fuel industry.
Last year’s summer was particularly hard for the oil and mining industry as rebel groups had intensified attacks on oil pipelines and mining machinery.
