Santiago Giraldo defeated Germany’s Michael Berrer Wednesday, and advanced to the quarter-finals of the UNICEF tournament.

The Colombian beat Berrer in straight sets 7-6 (8-6) 6-3. A tight first set ended with a closely fought tie-break, before Giraldo closed out the second set 6-3 to win the match in a total time of one hour and 43 minutes.
