Labor inspections of Colombian docking companies have revealed issues of late pay and the non-payment of health and social security benefits, local media reported Tuesday.
Labor Minister Rafael Pardo said many complaints of late payment of salaries had been uncovered, as well as problems with sub-contracting.
The minister said an investigation into workers’ rights at the Port Company of Buenaventura and 16 other operators had been opened.
Investigations have also been opened of several flower companies in the Savannah of Bogota.
The Labor Ministry is currently investigating 200 companies for sub-contracting.
