Colombian taxi driver returns $8,000 to passenger

by Tim Hinchliffe October 18, 2011

A Colombian taxi driver was rewarded on Monday after returning $8,000 to a passenger in Cali.

The driver, Humberto Semanate, had noticed that a portfolio belonging to a forgetful, foreign female passenger had been left in his taxi.

The portfolio contained the woman’s money and identity documents.

As a reward for his honesty, the taxi company presented Semanate with a microwave oven.

In a similar incident in July, a taxi driver in Cartegena became a local hero after returning $6,000 to a passenger in need of a heart operation.
