by Newswires May 11, 2011

Colombia news - BVC

Colombian stocks rose Wednesday fueled by the debut of the country’s flagship airline in the exchange, while the peso weakened against the dollar.

The IGBC index rose 0.2% to 14,204.11 points. The gains were led by shares of AviancaTaca, which operates Colombia’s largest carrier. Shares of the group rose 6% to close at COP5,300.

Meantime, the Colombian peso weakened to close at COP1,812.10, from COP1,787.02 at the close on Tuesday.

The yield on the benchmark, peso-denominated 2020 bond stood 8.148% from 8.074% at the close Tuesday.
