Over 1,000 software and information technology professionals receive training from industry body Fedesoft, Radio Santa Fe reported Thursday.

Employees from small and large companies affiliated with Fedesoft received training in Team Software Processes and Personal Software Processes, practices designed to improve productivity in software engineering.

After attending the training sessions, employees received certificates from the Software Engineering Institute of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The workshops, which were provided with financial support from governmental education body SENA, took place in Bogota, Villavicencio, Medellin, Manizales, Armenia, Pereira, Cali, Bucaramanga and Cartagena.

Paola Restrepo, executive president of Fedesoft said, “In the medium term, being at the forefront of these practices will be an important factor so that national companies can compete with multinationals.”

Cristobal Naranjo, president of CNT Sistemas de Informacion said, “These methodologies will greatly improve the quality of the processes. With human resources training of the software development companies, more secure, reliable, cost and time efficient businesses are fostered.”
