Wilder came clean on Monday in front of a disciplinary committee for the Liga Postobon. The striker was asked to appear in front of the committee having tested positive for marijuana following the recent Tolima match with Cali.
El Pais reports that the 29 year old player has also tested positive for marijuana on 4 previous occasions.
Medina’s admittance of his addiction contradicts his previous statements that he had “changed and left the problem….behind”.
Medina’s lawyer, Andres Charria, told Caracol Radio that, “Wilder is a person with an addiction problem and he wants to beat it.” Charria went on to explain that he hopes the disciplinary committee will acknowledge that marijuana is not a drug that improves sporting performance before handing down a possible ban for the player.
