Colombian soccer league week 7 preview

by Marc Hall March 9, 2012

Colombia news - Liga Postobon

Nacional, fifth in the Liga Postobon, will be looking to assert their traditional dominance over their smaller city rivals, who are currently bottom of the table and without a win.

Underdogs Medellin will be buoyed by the fact that Nacional have lost their two last league encounters and surrendered their lead in a their mid-week Copa Libertadores game.

Two teams with a lot to play for are reigning champions Junior de Barranquilla and Patriotas F.C., placed eighth and nineth respectively. A win could fire either team into the top five of the table. Patriotas have not picked up three points since their second game of the season.

Second-placed Deportes Tolima will be looking to take the iniative in the Apertura title race, but face a tricky away game to mid-table Real Cartagena. Tolima’s central-Colombia rivals Atletico Huila, ahead of Tolima on goal difference, should be tested somewhat by visiting Deportivo Pasto, who are joint-seventh.
