Colombian police arrested Friday, “El Viejo,” a reported leader of the neo-paramilitary organization, Los Urabeños.
According to local media reports, Alexander Zuñiga Espinoza, alias “El Viejo” is reported to be the third in command of the neo-paramilitary organization, Los Urabeños, a crime syndicate that focuses on drug trafficking and extortion around Colombia. “El Viejo” is wanted for over 15 homicides and is reported to be a close associate of captured drug kingpin, Hector Mario Urdinola alias “Chico,” also of Los Urabeños.
The suspected murderer was captured in the southern part of Cali, Colombia’s third largest city located in the Valle del Cauca department -an area mostly dominated by rival drug trafficking organization, Los Rastrojos.
Authorities reportedly told El Espectador that “El Viejo” was involved in the organization of a mafia summit in Pereira, Risaralda, in November in which the leaders of Los Rastrojos and Los Urabeños reportedly attended. After this meeting, two leaders of Los Rastrojos were captured by police.
