Colombian model indicted in Mexico for drug trafficking

by Samuel Thomson April 12, 2011

Colombian model Juliana Sossa Toro was indicted Tuesday for her involvement in criminal gang activities in Mexico, Caracol Radio reports.

After Mexican authorities determined her to be an active participant in criminal activities rather than solely an innocent partner, a Mexican judge indicted her for the crimes of drug trafficking and the illegal possession of a firearm.

The former “Queen of Antioquia” was arrested earlier this year alongside her boyfriend, a known Mexican drug dealer and the alleged shooter of Paraguayan soccer star Salvador Cabanas.

At the moment of arrest, Sossa, along with six others, was found with stolen identification cards, numerous packets of cocaine, five rifles, six handguns, one sub-machine gun, 304 cartridges, two grenades, six bullet-proof vests and almost $160,000 in cash in January.

Due to the severity of the charge, Sossa has not been granted bail.
