Colombia’s Yuri Alvear defeated Japanese adversary, Nun Ira Karen, to win her third world judo title in Tcheliabinsk, Russia on Friday.
Yuri Alvear has retained her title as the world judo champion in the under 70kg (155lb) category with Nun taking silver and Poland’s Katarzyna Klys Onix and Cuba’s Onix Cortes Aldama taking the bronze.
Last month Alvear won gold in the same division of the Pan American Judo Open, held in Santiago, Chile. In 2012 she won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in London, which was the first ever Olympic medal for Colombia in Judo, according to Caracol Radio.
