Colombian beheads daughter, says devil ordered him

by Jean Carrere November 10, 2011

Child violence

A Colombian man beheaded his 18 month-old daughter on what he claimed to be the devil’s orders, Spanish media reported Thursday.

The 34 year-old, living in Gerona, Spain, presumably decapitated his daughter with a kitchen knife, in presence of the victim’s six year-old sister.

The father then called the emergency services, to whom he said that the devil was still in the apartment upon their arrival.

The alleged parricide had a fit when the local police arrived, with no less than five policemen needed to subdue him. He was then given a sedative and put under arrest.

The victim’s mother was working when the crime took place, and suffered a nervous breakdown upon hearing the news. She was transferred to a social assistance center.

Social services also took the victim’s sister into their care.

A resident of the building assured she heard screams and shouts mentioning the devil around the time the crime was committed.

The suspect was put in prison awaiting further legal actions, after participating in the reconstruction of the crime, with the body of his daughter still present. Several neighbors insulted the alleged murderer as he left the scene in custody.
