The Colombian Navy on Friday will show off its modernized warships and submarines in naval exercises in the Caribbean sea, as host of the Caribbean Units Exercises 2013.
Organized by the South Command of the United States (SOUTHCOM), the event will include representatives from 14 countries, and will run from Friday September 6 to September 15.
Colombia’s Ministry of Defense announced on Wednesday that the Caribbean city of Cartagena would be the base of operations for the event, in which 13 boats from Brazil, Canada, Colombia, the USA, Mexico, the UK and the Dominican Republic will perform exercises.
Several Colombian warships and submarines will take part in their first exercises since their recent modernization.
