by Matthew Sterne September 30, 2014

Colombia has been selected as the host for the Latin American leg of the World Economic Forum in 2016.

President Juan Manuel Santos announced that Colombia was chosen as the host for the Forum at the inauguration of the XXX International Fair of Bogota.

Klaus Schwab, the founder of the Forum held annually in Davos (Switzerland), has confirmed the news.

Santos explained that his  office received confirmation from Klaus Schwab who was recently honored last week in New York at the opening of the 69th General Assembly UN for his work with the World Economic Forum.

The President explained that Colombia is one of the special invitees for next year in Davos and he further announced the country as the Latin American host of the World Economic Forum 2016.

“The designation of Colombia to host the World Economic Forum on Latin America shows international confidence in Colombia’s momentum,” added Santos.
